The ONLY 4 LURES you need for BASS
There are loads of lures you can buy for Bass. In todays video i try and narrow that down to just 4 types. Hopefully it will help us travel light and have a better understanding of fish behaviour. Im also very budget aware Some say tight! But my intent with this video is we simplify things when we try and catch Bass on Lure;

New Sea Fishing mark looked Bassy... But now what?
Переглядів 27 тис.2 місяці тому
I had noticed a reef that really shifts the water round a sand bar at low tide. The water just looked ‘Bassy’ today! So i aimed a Bait between two small reefs where i imagined the water would be most turbulent. A recent post from coxandrawle asked what our number one Fishing tip was and over the years i’ve stood by “thinking like a fish”. Yes, theres a lot of luck in fishing but Im giving mysel...

Great video again :) I like videos like this, you are great at it. My favorites nowadays are fiiish black minnow no 2 10 gr & storm gt 360 9cm 21gr, ima pugachev cobra for top water & Zipbaits Fakie Dog , pd garage sprank walker 90 & Daiwa Crosswake 90F. Tryin not to exceed 10cm nowadays.
Great video with loads of info. I'm guilty of carrying 3 boxes round and probably throwing only 4 lures out of them all. Love the wobble action of the Sandy Andy
Yes they are a beaut. Thanks Nathan I used to disregard sandeel type imitations as we don’t see them much here in Sussex. But recent catches on the Sandy Andy have changed my mind !
What a lot you've got! It makes me wonder if they're all necessary. When I did my bass fishing, now we'll over 60 years ago, we just had metal spoons and spinners and we still caught fish, also used the same ones for pike. I think that the bass often attack lures through aggression and not hunger. Undoubtedly some of those modern lures are great fish catchers and also angler catchers!
to be fair there were a lot more fish back then, might need that extra edge nowadays!
Great video Matt, seems I'm more attracted to my lures than the fish !!!
Very good information Matt even though I still think myself included that many will take a whole box of lures Lol 😆
Ha I do too- but if I could only take 4 types !
Good video 🙂 I like shallow-divers, so I would swap out those sinker-plugs for shallow divers. Also, I like the Savage Gear Sandeel Pencil. A good metal that one, looks nice, swims nice, and casts like a bullet. I fish Langstone Harbour.
Yep I was close to saying that - shallow divers well suited too
Megabass zonk Savage seeker A weird one nobody knows, flying lure at night close in on the rocks with a tiny starlight Redgill type behind a float = ragot ball or sbrilino
Best lure, spinner...............the one you have confidence in. Thanks for the video. Must go out soon.
Confidence goes a long way ! But it’s got to be based on some previous good catches
For me it’s got to be a white SG Surf Seeker fished with a 70mm Redgill flasher as a teaser. Sometimes those bass only nail the teaser!
Winners !
All taken onboard Matt, I’ll still go out tomorrow with thirty lures in my bag! 🙄
😂 me too! I just can't pack light.
Me too ! Ohh hang on
Great video Matt, looking forward to the next one but more importantly…looking forward to getting out there and catching some fish 🎣 🙌🏼
Ohh yes 👍
Thank you. Enjoyed your video.
Appreciate the watch Ian
Thanks Matt just what I need
Good stuff
Westing sany Andy Best bass lure ever made in my opinion 👌
Certainly looks the business
Thanks for your thoughts mr saltwater , very interesting indeed but alas after all that I think I’m gonna need a bigger box 🤪 so much choice out there it’s mind blowing like sweets as a kid you want to try everything . As for me 🤔 do like my lucky craft and developing a fondness for lazy lures range . Thanks for sharing another alluring 😉 video and best of luck for the coming summer season and may a PB grace the shingle for you
Thanks as always, I agree and the u.k market for lures is getting increasingly better served
I think if I could only use 1 lure till the end of time I'd have to pick the sidewinder skerrie , I dont think there's a fish in the sea that wont hit it , comes in loads of different colours , sizes and slims , and if they weren't around I dont think you can go wrong with a classic red gill
Great informative video Matt, as you say what works in your own area. Im in Felixstowe Suffolk, drift fishing in our area pays dividends, not so many on shore. PS was waiting for the draw on friday, did it take place? as i was waiting for it form 8pm to 9pm. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎣🎣🎣
Thanks mate, apologise for the draw numerous tech problems - will advise again. I’m rubbish at lives !
@@SaltwaterAngler sorry Matt, thought I missed it, was hoping i would win for my birthday on Sunday 🤣
Hello from France 🇫🇷😊 For your softbaits , do you mix colors in boxes?
NO! or Brands of the same colour. Unless we want a rainbow lure
thanks Mat, really didnt have a clue on lures till this video
Very helpful video ❤
Thanks for watching
Great choice of lures, my preference would be the seeker
Let me guess you fish a deep mark or somewhere with a snag free bottom.
@@SaltwaterAngler Swansea Gower beaches and estuaries mostly.
I caught a 1.5 lb squid on a SG Seeker (white and silver, 3 inch) a couple of years ago! Portsmouth harbour entrance. I was obvs after bass and I couldn't believe it when I hauled this beast in! It wasn't even "squid season" and I thought I just had a lump of seaweed when I was reeling it in. But NO! Big squid out of season on an SG Seeker! The rear treble hook had got it right through the pad on one of its two "catching" tentacles! Stroke of luck - it made a tasty calamari pasta dish 😀
Love these type of videos thanks mate
Cheers Shug
You need a 5th lure. A whopper plopper. Absolute killer over shallow reefs.
🤣
Cheers Matt. So…. ‘The Silver Season’ begins 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 As much as I’d like to limit myself to just one box of lures I always end up taking 3 at least. With some slots doubled up (2 lures per space) but I do find myself using ‘The usual suspects’ most of the time. I change until I catch - or submit to a blank 😅trying different depths , colours, effects etc. I’d feel disappointed if I’d blanked but had some I could have tried but they were left behind 😅😊 I think last ‘season’ I had fish on about 5 or 6 lures that regularly caught. (From kayak). Maybe I’ll be more adventurous this year. I’m hoping to try more late evening into early night fishing 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Keep ‘em coming. Might see you on the south coast some time 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Dan , thanks mate interesting reading as always
landed a 12 pounder on this one simple is best do the fish know?
Kept talking about the float but I couldn't see it.
Nice watch Matt 👌🏻
Great information, I’ve started fishing again after 20 years and I’m completely hooked again .looking forward to more of your videos
i would value your opinion of the penn fierce 4 travel rod and reel combo. 4 piece rod casts 20 to 80g. i have used it once and like it but as its my first time lure fishing have nothing to compare it with. thankyou
Looks great I wonder if they do a travel version? I think would be great. Have you ever tried a travel lure rod? What was your impression?
They don’t but I’m interested in your travel idea - savage gear and shimano do a travel rod but 50g I think?
Sorry to say this but the music is just awful, irritating and unnecessary. Sitting in a kayak offshore is silent and peaceful. Transmit that. Otherwise it's a mess with the poor editing and substandard camera work. For inspiration watch The Fish Locker or Riverside With Me.
Dont be sorry - ua-cam.com/video/vkg8d9X6-lk/v-deo.htmlsi=GzBhK4ncZLYOgYQz
We do all have our favourite marks but the sea bed changes, especially after a big storm, so we must always be prepared to seek out new marks. A once prolific spot can suddenly stop producing and we must walk away from it and look for where the ground is better. I have known anglers who fish the same spot year on year because they once had a tremendous catch there and they just can't go anywhere else.
Good video keep them comin I've just bought a 9ft gs2 ugly stick spinnin rod what do you think of them
I'm still trying when i can, no joy yet Matt. Great information thank you 🖖
Great videos thanks, I wonder what you think about attaching a treble to the lure eye and then placing one hook of the treble to the underside of the lure as opposed to the traditional hook over the top side?
Great video. Thanks for running a giveaway, would be great to win.
Nice video i would like to add you a little tip I've hear you lost couple floats to avoid this i always use stronger braid than my hook trace per example 20lb braid 15lb hook trace fluor then when you get snagged most times you just lose your hook tight lines and great video :)
Thanks for the info
Would definitely consider buying one of these rods. But unfortunately I need a new telescope rod as I live in Manchester and only get to fish when I go over to France. I fish mainly in and around Poole, so around the harbour, some of the marines off sandbanks, and the chain ferry. Can anyone recommend a decent Telescope rod? Thanks in advance.
Hi Matt… Great attempt, I can tell you watched Blue Peter. I’ve looked at using prawn lures form the kayak… just think in 15-20 feet of water you could relay make em dance, but a good lure is hard to find! I’ve bought some of eBay with a wire attached … not sure how you rig these🤔 they were cheap so no loss, but they do look good.. any ideas? I know you made a vid a short time ago about a good shrimp/ prawn lure….. but can’t find it. ☹️ Keep making the vids love to watch em and gets the brain going….🤓B
Always enjoy videos and learning a bit more about fishing is always good 👍
I’ve been using penn battle 3 reels these past few years, they have no anti reverse so the reel can’t spin backwards, but with the last two I’ve had they have developed this fault which allows them to spin backwards sometimes. Any ideas why? And could you recommend something else?
That DRX1 5-35g rod would suit me, I've just bought 3 of Drifts New Launch Jig lures that would be great on it
Ahh.. Hahaha... I've done that with the leader n cut it up n started again.. so thanks for that tip.. if i ever do it again... new to fishing n now i know..
Another great video, nice introduction to rod selection.
far to late for the draw, but very informative video, keep up the good work.
Nice bass matt🤙 good bodge, Should’ve bought that shimmy aerlex instead 🤣🤣 Could just be wear&tear&saltwater though??
Good video but it is a bit hit-and-miss, don't rush it you will damage more worms that you keep. LOL lug worms are not that fast.
Really like the look of the 8ft rod. I use a 9’6” and fish of rocks a fair bit and sometimes struggle with the back cast, think that rod will be perfect for my fishing. Have a great season 👍.
A lovely small bass
Hi Matt, i purchased the DRX1 5-35, a couple of months ago, I’m currently using it in Portugal, I have to say, it’s fishes beautifully,I’ve teamed it up with the Sedona 4000, probably should have gone with 2500-3000, still it’s a beautiful rod, yet to catch… plenty of Bass jumping, after the Sand Eels,I will catch one of those Bass!, thanks Matt for another great Video.🎣
